Hello everyone! My name is Dilhani Kumarasingha who comes to EIMUN 2024, from Sri Lanka. This is the first MUN experience in my life as well as the first journey of traveling another country. I would like to see it as one turning points in my life which is very beautiful and full of experiences.
I am an undergraduate currently pursing BA degree in the department of Sociology at University Of Ruhuna as well as working as a youth forum member in American Corner Matara, Sri Lanka. I am still 22 years old and always I want to add a new positive experience to my life. So, I can introduce EIMUN as one of the most valuable opportunities I have had in my life.
According to my perspective, EIMUN has been a priceless experience for me as a delegate. It promotes accessibility, affordability, and availability and has given me a forum to hone my leadership, debating, research and diplomatic abilities. EIMUN is more than simply a conference, the debates have helped me become more prepared to lead by extending my perspective on the world and has given me the ability to interact effectively with people from different backgrounds. This conference empowers young minds via education and research via active participation.
I was a delegate of Nepal at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Simply, it can mention as FAO committee at EIMUN 2024. During the first committee session I was little bit nervous and I didn’t have the strength to speak one single word, but on the second day I felt very confident and want to win the challenge which introduced by the chair of the committee. The challenge was a very interesting., that we had to speak at least two times a day. And I was able to make a mark in the challenge as I delivered my GSL speech and two speeches at the moderated caucuses. That was a big challenge to me because I was able to break the barrier that my mind told me I couldn’t.
I gained a lot of knowledge from the committee sessions and every moment I met lot of new friends. That bond is very dear and will never be forgotten in my life. From the second I arrived in Nepal; I have loved every second spent there.
Finally, I would like to express my honored gratitude to the Sri Lanakan US Embassy who gave me this golden opportunity, to the coordinators of American Corner Matara who encouraged me to do this, and to all those who stood behind me and gave me strength and specially to the Youth Thinkers’ Society and U.S. Embassy Nepal who organized this opportunity.
